Max has premiered the trailer for the long-in-the-works film adaptation of “The Fault in Our Stars” author John Green’s 2017 novel “Turtles All the Way Down”.

The film was first announced the same year the book came out with the project setup at Fox 2000 Pictures. When Disney acquired 21st Century Fox, the latter’s Fox 2000 division was shut down.

New Line Cinema then acquired the title, and filmed it in the second quarter of 2022. There’s been no word since then until last month when the Max release was announced.

Isabela Merced stars as Aza Holmes, a teenager who struggles with anxiety, invasive thoughts and obsessive-compulsive disorder while trying to live up to everyone’s expectations of her to be a good daughter, friend and student.

A reconnection with her childhood crush Davis might help her face her fears and learn more about how she can navigate her mental health.

Cree Cicchino, Felix Mallard, Judy Reyes, Maliq Johnson, J. Smith-Cameron, Poorna Jagannathan, and Hannah Marks co-star. Marks also directs the film from a script from “Love, Simon” scribes Elizabeth Berger and Isaac Aptaker.

“Turtles All the Way Down” hits Max on May 2nd.
