By Dennis Quaid is trading the world of quiet flower shops for guns, corruption and organized crime in The Florist, a new action-thriller from Saban Films. The studio has released the first trailer, giving audiences a look at Quaid in one of his more unexpected action roles.
Quaid plays a meticulous hitman who has managed to disappear into an ordinary life as a neighborhood florist. But his peaceful cover is shattered when he becomes responsible for protecting a teenage witness targeted by two dangerous forces: a ruthless drug cartel and a network of corrupt police officers.
That puts Quaid’s character in a brutal two-front war, forcing him to bring back the skills he has tried to leave behind. And judging from the trailer, the flower shop may be hiding considerably more than bouquets and gardening tools.
The film also features Jean Reno, Sky Katz, Anna Schafer, Leonidas Gulaptis and Dylan Flashner, giving the project a strong international cast.
The Florist is directed by Babak Najafi, best known for 2016’s Gerard Butler action thriller London Has Fallen. The screenplay comes from Eran Creevy and Scott Windhauser.
With a hitman protagonist, corrupt cops, a drug cartel and a teenage witness caught in the middle, The Florist looks ready to turn an innocent neighborhood business into the unlikely center of a violent crime war.
The film is set to debut digitally on October 9.
