“The Ballad of Buster Scruggs” and “Watchmen” star Tim Blake Nelson has spoken about being cut from this weekend’s major cinematic release – “Dune: Part Two”.

Nelson was announced as part of the cast and shot a small appearance in the movie, but he along with first film co-star Stephen McKinley Henderson were absent from the final cut.

As director Denis Villeneuve is famously on record as having no plans to release deleted scenes or a director’s cut, we’ll never see the performance Nelson gave. Their scenes were reportedly removed for more time with the Bene Gesserit sisterhood.

In an interview with MovieWeb, Nelson responded to being cut from the movie:

“I don’t think I’m at liberty to say what the scene was. I’d leave that to Denis [Villeneuve] if he wants to talk about it.

I had a great time over there shooting it. And then he had to cut it because he thought the movie was too long. And I am heartbroken over that, but there’s no hard feelings.

I loved it, and I can’t wait to do something else with him and we certainly plan to do that.”

Whilst Henderson reprised his Thufir Hawat role, details on Nelson’s role were never disclosed.

It’s rumored he may have portrayed Count Hasimir Fenring, longtime confidant of the Emperor (Christopher Walken) and husband to Bene Gesserit Lady Margot (Lea Seydoux).

“Dune: Part Two” is currently in cinemas.
