By Filmmaker and DC Studios co-chief James Gunn has confirmed that his upcoming “Superman: Legacy” film will release on July 11th 2025 as originally planned.
The movie will not see its release date shift as a result of the extended writers and actors strikes which have both finally come to an end with studios now scrambling to ramp up production on various works.
Several films have seen delays and more are expected as timetables are worked out, scheduling logjams are dealt with, and the industry gets back to work as fast as it can.
In a posting on Twitter, Gunn praises his dedicated crew for pushing through what was happening and staying the course with the film.
“Thanks to the efforts of our talented crew, who never lost faith during the longest strikes in Hollywood history, and who never let their foot off the pedal, continuing to barrel forward, creating the most amazing character and set designs I’ve seen in my entire career, #SupermanLegacy will be making the originally planned release date of July 11, 2025.”
“Superman: Legacy” remains on track to begin its filming at Leavesden Studios in London in early Spring next year. One thing Gunn hasn’t revealed yet, though it’s expected to be announced in the coming days, is casting of some key supporting roles like Jimmy Olsen and Lex Luthor.
They will join David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane along with Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
