Warner Bros. Discovery kicked off its CinemaCon panel today with the announcement of Warner Bros. Clockwork, a new studio label for the company.

It essentially sounds like the company’s speciality label in the way Focus Features is for Universal, Searchlight is for 20th Century Studios, and Sony Classics is for Sony Pictures.

The new division will be run by former Neon CMO Christian Parkes who was behind the successes of films like “Parasite,” “Hereditary” and “Longlegs”. Fellow Neon ex-execs Jason Wald and Spener Collantes have also joined the new label.

Previously, the studio had Warner Independent Pictures, but that folded in 2008 after just a few years. New Line Cinema, which handles mostly genre fare, on occasion has been handling the odd auteur-driven title in the years since.

In addition, the first title at the new label will be Oscar-winning “Anora” director Sean Baker’s new film “Ti Amo!”. Baker will write, direct, edit, cast, and produce while reteaming with “Anora” producers Alex Coco and Samantha Quan.

Clockwork is aiming to release two or three films per year. Parkes will report to Warner chiefs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy.
