Amazon Prime Video has officially renewed Guy Ritchie’s “Young Sherlock” series for a second season following a quite successful launch. Ritchie will return to direct the opening episodes again.

The streaming giant says 45 million people worldwide watched at least a few minutes of Young Sherlock in its first four weeks of release, putting it in the top 10 for any season of an original series on the streamer.

The majority of those viewers, around 63%, come from outside the United States, with high concentrations in the U.K., India and Germany.

In the U.S., the series recorded 678 million minutes of viewing in its premiere week and managed to make the Nielsen Top 10 original streaming series list – but only for that first week.

Launched as a binge watch on March 4th, Hero Fiennes Tiffin leads the cast as a very young Sherlock Holmes alongside a scene-stealing Donal Finn as Sherlock’s current friend (and future enemy) James Moriarty, Max Irons as Sherlock’s brother Mycroft, Joseph Fiennes and Natascha McElhone as the Holmes parents, along with Zine Tseng and Colin Firth.

Matthew Parkhill serves as showrunner on the series and executive produces with Ritchie, Marc Resteghini, Dhana Rivera Gilbert, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton, Colin Wilson and Harriet Creelman.
