By More footage of Jared Leto filming scenes for “TRON: Ares” on the streets of Vancouver has emerged online with social media posts showing off production on the third “TRON” which has been filming since January.
The actor’s strike shut down pre-production just a few weeks before it was to begin shooting in mid-August 2023. Filming began earlier this year with Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Rønning (“Kon-Tiki”) directing.
Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne penned the script which will reportedly focus on the emergence of Ares, a sentient program that crosses over into the human world that is not ready for contact.
Leto will play the human manifestation of that program and the new film is expected to spend more time in the real world than the digital ones of the first two movies.
Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, Cameron Monaghan, Hasan Minhaj, Greta Lee, Arturo Castro, Sarah Desjardins and Gillian Anderson co-star.
The production will likely wrap in the coming weeks before going into over a year of post-production to be ready for an October 2025 release.
