I was initially put off Terrifier by the main character, Art the Clown, as he looked a little cheesy. A few people encouraged me to give it a try. I did, and the first movie was a blast. I say blast, it was a gross-out horror that didn’t pull any punches.

The second Terrifier was good, but not great. It starred Lauren LaVera, who is extremely easy on the eye, but the movie was about 30 minutes too long. It was fun, but too long. That’s what she said.

Damien Leone wrote and directed both movies and did a good job. What I liked most about them was his use of practical effects. He designs and creates all his make-up and effects. This means he can work independently from big studios and save money on CGI. It also gives him full creative control over his work.

Both Terrifier and the second one have gained a cult following. Inevitably that means a third movie is on the way and just finished filming. Leone took to social media and wrote:

“And that’s a wrap on Terrifier 3! This was easily the most challenging film of my career and an emotional rollercoaster to say the least! Luckily I was surrounded by the greatest cast & crew who kept me motivated and enthusiastic throughout.”

“I may be the creator of Terrifier, but it takes an army of passionate artists to make a film and I was fortunate enough to surround myself with some of the most talented individuals in the biz. I’m so proud of everyone involved and I can’t wait for you all to see the magic and mayhem we’ve created.

If you thought Terrifier 2 was insane, we’ve reached a whole new level of horror madness that will most certainly blow you away! Get ready for the continuation of the mega-slasher!“

The first movie cost just $55,000 to make, the second, $250,000. Terrifier 2 made over £15 million at the box office, so the budget for Terrifier 3 is up as well, apparently around $2 million.

Terrifier 3 will have a theatrical release on the 25th of October, just in time for Halloween.
