Amazon Prime Video has released new 50s-themed character posters for its anticipated live-action TV series adaptation of the “Fallout” video game franchise.

Two hundred years after an apocalypse that took place in the 1950s, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind.

They are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them. “Fallout” is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have.

As previously indicated – this isn’t a direct adaptation of an existing game, rather its a standalone story that unfolds in the same world as the games.

“Westworld” creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are behind the series inspired by the Bethesday titles that began in 1997 and spawned multiple sequels. Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner serve as showrunners.

The cast is led by Ella Purnell as vault-dweller Lucy, Aaron Moten in the role of Maximus, Walton Goggins as The Ghoul; and Kyle MacLachlan as Overseer Hank.

Additional cast includes Moises Arias, Sarita Choudhury, Michael Emerson, Leslie Uggams, Frances Turner, Dave Register, Zach Cherry, Johnny Pemberton, Rodrigo Luzzi, Annabel O’Hagan and Xelia Mendes-Jones.

“Fallout” will premiere on Prime Video on April 12th.
