Premium cabler Showtime will no longer be just Showtime anymore.
Paramount Global has announced that as of January 8th, the linear Showtime cable network will switch over to Paramount+ With Showtime – the same name as the company’s highest-tier streaming package and dubbed a “first of its kind multiplatform brand”.
However, subscribers of the linear Showtime channel will not have free access to the Paramount+ With Showtime streaming service – despite the service being touted as “integrating streaming and linear content”.
To access their programming online, they need to access authenticated streaming apps of pay-TV partners.
With the change comes some change of content as well with select Paramount+ original series now to be broadcast on the cabler including “Halo,” “Star Trek: Discovery,” “Sexy Beast,” “Wolf Pack” and “Mayor of Kingstown”.
New Showtime original series “The Woman in the Wall” is coming next month to the cabler, joining recent hits and acclaimed titles like “Fellow Travelers,” “The Curse” and “Yellowjackets”.
On Monday, the company is launching a campaign about the Paramount+ With Showtime rebrand, which will air on Showtime’s owned and operated linear channels to drive awareness among subscribers.
