A third film in the “Now You See Me” franchise is very much going ahead as Lionsgate International will reportedly launch AFM sales for the title next week.
According to Screen, Ruben Fleischer (“Uncharted,” “Venom”) is directing whilst Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and Morgan Freeman are reprising their roles from the previous entries in 2013 and 2016.
Michael Leslie (“Assassin’s Creed,” “Macbeth”) is writing the current draft of the script for the new entry in the series which follows a team of illusionists who use their globe-trotting shows to pull off elaborate heists.
Leslie takes over from Seth Grahame-Smith (“Pride and Prejudice and Zombies”) and Eric Warren Singer (“Top Gun: Maverick”) who previously worked on the script. Louis Leterrier (“Fast X”) directed the two previous films.
The two films so far have pulled in nearly $700 million worldwide. It’s not clear at this time if any other co-stars from earlier entries like Dave Franco, Lizzy Caplan, Isla Fisher or Mark Ruffalo would return.
Lionsgate will also be selling several other titles at AFM including the Idris Elba-led survival thriller “Above the Below” and the Chad Stahelski-directed “Highlander” reboot starring Henry Cavill.
