Lukas Gage leads the cast of the upcoming “Prison Break” reboot and he confirmed last night, while attending the “Voicemails for Isabelle” premiere in LA, that filming is currently midway through.
Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell lead the cast of the original smash hit series which ran from 2005-2009, with its first season specifically seen as a major critical and commercial success.
The new series will be set in the same world as the previous version but will follow a new cast of characters. Alongside Gage, actors Emily Browning, Drake Rodger, Clayton Cardenas, JR Bourne, Georgie Flores and Myles Bullock also star.
Gage tells THR that one big difference between the new version is that by launching on streaming, not broadcast TV, they can go darker:
“We’re paying respect to the amazing TV show that I grew up loving but it’s also on Hulu now, it’s not on Fox, so we can get really gritty and get really dark. It’s gonna be crazy, it’s gonna be a wild ride.”
Gage teased “we might see a couple of OGs coming back” and a “lot of amazing character actors” are in the new series, adding: “I’m working with Margo Martindale right now and that’s like a character actor dream world, that show.”
