Aura Entertainment has premiered the trailer for the hippo-themed survival thriller “Hungry” starring Madison Davenport.

Filmmaker James Nunn (“One Shot,” “Tower Block,” “Shark Bait”) pens and directs the film which centers on a group of holidaymakers that must fight for their lives against a rampaging hippo on the loose after becoming lost in the Louisiana swamplands.

Also starring are Joaquim de Almeida (“Road House”), Tracey Bonner (“The Exorcism”), Jim Meskimen (“Apollo 13”), Samantha Coughlan (“Damage”), Olivia Bernstone (“Mood”) Michel Curiel (“She Hulk: Attorney At Law”) and River Codack (“Under the Bridge”).

Hippos are considered one of the most dangerous animals on the planet. Highly aggressive and territorial, the creatures kill around 500 people every year – as many deaths as those caused by elephants and several times more deaths annually than lions.

Award-winning MUFX designer Dan Martin (“Possessor,” “The Banshees of Inisherin”) and VFX company Magic Dust VFX (“One Piece,” “True Detective: Night Country”) are also on the project.

Ben Jacques produces the film which was shot in Malta. “Hungry” opens in cinemas on June 23rd.
