Mixed messages are flying thick and fast regarding “Obsession” actress Inde Navarrette’s potential involvement in Michael Mann’s “Heat” sequel at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Multiple conflicting claims are swirling after a report first emerged at Page Six claiming that she was no longer in the running for a role due to her recent commitment to play Rogue in Marvel’s upcoming “X-Men” reboot.
It was indicated she would’ve been up for the role of Charlene Shiherlis, the wife of Chris Shiherlis, presumably in the prequel scenes set in 1988.
Val Kilmer and Ashley Judd played Chris and Charlene, respectively, in the original 1995 film. Leonardo DiCaprio will play Chris in the new film in scenes set primarily after the events of the 1995 film.
However, a new report by Nexus Point News says Navarrette is still in contention to star in the film, but in a much smaller role – that of a character named Gabriella.
They also indicate others up for roles include Eiza González as Elisa, while Odessa Young is under consideration for the young Charlene role. Either way, there’s been no officially announced involvement of any of these actresses so far.
The film, based on the 2022 novel of the same name by Mann and Meg Gardiner, serves as both a sequel and a prequel to the 1995 film. Filming is slated to begin towards the end of the year.
