Warner Bros. Pictures is reportedly developing a new live-action film adaptation of the iconic cartoon “The Flintstones”.
Ryan Gosling and Jessie Henderson are set to produce the film for their Open Invite production label, with a screenwriter currently being sought.
This one will shift the focus to Bamm-Bamm Rubble, the son of Fred Flintstone’s good pal Barney Rubble, as opposed to Fred himself.
The property began life as an animated Hanna-Barbera and ABC series in 1960 and ran for six seasons. Set in the Stone Age, it centers on Fred and Wilma Flintstone, pet dinosaur Dino and their best friends Barney and Betty Rubble.
Universal released the live-action 1994 film that starred John Goodman as Fred and Rick Moranis as Barney – it earned $340 million globally and spawned a 2000 prequel.
FOX tried to bring back the property with the animated sequel series “Bedrock” in 2021 but that never made it out of development.
