Focus Features has landed the supernatural horror feature “The Fisherman” which has quite the pedigree.
The work, an adaptation of the Bram Stoker Award-winning 2016 novel by John Langan, will be helmed by famed “The Green Knight” and “A Ghost Story” director David Lowery.
Another notable indie filmmaker, Alex Ross Perry (“Queen of Earth,” “Her Smell”) will pen the script adaptation.
The story follows Abe and Dan, two grieving widowers who bond over fishing getaways in upstate New York.
One day, Dan suggests they try an isolated and mysterious spot named Dutchman’s Creek – a place whispered to allow a person to see their loved ones.
Even a spooky tale from a man in a diner about the creek’s terrible history can’t stop these two men, who find themselves face-to-face with Der Fisher, aka The Fisherman. They probably should have just stayed home.
The producing side is packed with core names from Platinum Dunes and Coin Operated, including “Armageddon” filmmaker Michael Bay and “IT” scribe Gary Dauberman along with Mia Maniscalco, Brad Fuller, and Alex Ginno.
