British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has reportedly finished production on a new feature film involving his iconic streetwise interviewer character Ali G.
The Insneider broke the news, with the trades subsequently confirming its real. They added that the film was shot in secret and will likely arrive next year.
That means it would hit approximately 25 years after the 2002 feature film comedy “Ali G Indahouse”, which starred the likes of Martin Freeman, Charles Dance, Michael Gambon and Rhona Mitra among others.
The Ali G character originally appeared on Channel 4’s “The 11 O’Clock Show” before becoming the title character of “Da Ali G Show” in the early 2000s.
Cohen, of course, went on to make films involving two of his other character creations – “Borat” in 2006 (and again in 2020) and “Bruno” in 2009.
A spokesperson for Cohen declined to comment to the trades. Cohen indicated in 2023 he was going to do a stand-up tour when talk of reviving the character first came up.
