DC Studios’ “Supergirl” reportedly pulled in $7.8 million in domestic previews on Thursday night and made $13 million in its first day at the global box office yesterday.
The latter figure is on par with the $12 million first day of Steven Spielberg’s recent opener “Disclosure Day”. The $7.8 million preview figure sits just above “Black Adam” ($7.6M) but behind “The Flash” ($9.7M).
Currently, domestic box-office projections for the movie have been revised downward from over $50 million to somewhere in the $40 million range. Worldwide box-office is now tipped to be in the over $80 million range.
While critics have been very mixed, audience reviews have been slightly higher with the title now at 76% on Rotten Tomatoes compared to the 57% of critics.
Also opening is “Jackass: Best and Last” which grossed $1.2 million from Thursday previews and is headed for a $10 million gross this weekend – on par with its $10 million budget.
“Toy Story 5” is expected to easily lead the weekend domestically with a further $90 million in its second weekend.
