Much of the conversation surrounding James Gunn’s “Superman” follow-up has been regarding its greater DC Universe links.
Some casting inclusions are confirmed including Blue Beetle (Xolo Maridueña) and John Stewart/Green Lantern (Aaron Pierre).
Others are more speculative from Adria Arjona having been cast as Wonder Woman rather than Maxima, to talk of other DC heroes popping up. The chatter is rife and has hijacked the conversation somewhat.
Now, popping up on Threads (via SuperSagaNews) , Gunn has essentially downplayed any expectations about other heroes appearing. Responding to a question about potential sequel characters popping up, he says:
“It’s movie about Lex and Clark. People shouldn’t expect substantial amounts of other characters. Things have been blown way out of proportion, and most stuff is just dead wrong”
The story will focus on the Man of Steel (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) putting their differences aside and joining forces to defend the planet against Brainiac (Lars Eidinger).
Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), and Maria Gabriella de Faria (The Engineer) have all been confirmed to return.
“Man of Tomorrow” will hit cinemas on July 9th 2027.
