The truth comes out as Sony Pictures releases the official teaser trailer for the upcoming drama piece The Social Reckoning. View trailer below.

A companion piece to the hit film, The Social Network, Sorkin’s original screenplay tells the true story of how Frances Haugen (Madison), a young Facebook engineer, enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz (White), a Wall Street Journal reporter, to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets.

Like many cinephile out there, 2010’s The Social Network was such an influential movie (to me at least) of the entire decade, showcasing some great directorial works, sharp writing, a terrific cast, and a poignant interpretation of Facebook’s origins underneath a cinematic light. The movie was, for tense and purposes, a “one and done” endeavor, closing out the narrative in a way that gives a definitive conclusion to the story. That being said, here we are with a follow-up sequel more than fifteen years. This first trailer from the upcoming film looks quite good. Very tense in its presentation and, while a different cast, definitely looks like a genuine continuation, especially in the writing. All in all, I am excited to see how this movie will be received by moviegoers and how will it live up to its predecessor film and the real life events in circles around.

The Social Reckoning  opens in theaters on October 9th, 2026
