Even the grumpiest of Outposters would have to admit that Toy Story keeps on delivering. The second movie achieved the rare feat of being a sequel that was even better than the original. The third movie was a superb tale about accepting the need for accepting change and moving on. It made grown men experience something in their eyes, some dust or something, in theaters everywhere.

It felt like a perfect ending, and a fourth movie was unnecessary and redundant, but then Pixar went and did it again with a story about finding your place in that changing world from the third movie. It tackled existential crisis, and even lost love.

So nobody would bet against Toy Story 5 at this stage. Especially as the movie tackles something every parent is keenly aware of these days – the addictive power of the dreaded screen and its impact on imaginative play.

Toy Story 5 sees Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and the rest of the team challenged after being introduced to a new threat – the villain Lilypad, a high-tech, frog-shaped smart tablet voiced by Greta Lee. Lilypad threatens to take all of Bonnie’s attention away from them during playtime. Meanwhile, dozens of commemorative Buzz Lightyear figures, stuck in toy mode, are searching for Star Command and creating problems for everyone around them.

Here is the trailer:

Oscar-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton and McKenna Harris co-direct the film, which is produced by Jessica Choi.

Singer Bad Bunny will have a voice cameo as a new character named Pizza with Sunglasses, one of a group of forgotten toys living in an abandoned backyard shed.

Tom Hanks returns as Woody, with Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, and Joan Cusack as Jessie. Ernie Hudson is Combat Carl, Tony Hale as Forky, with Alan Cumming as the voice of Bullseye, and Conan O’Brien as toilet training tech toy Smarty Pants.

Toy Story 5 opens on June 19th.
