As part of Netflix Animation’s press presentation in Hollywood today, Sony Pictures Animation have announced two TV series in the works for the streamer based on their popular franchises.
First is a new “Ghostbusters” animated supernatural comedy series. It is currently unknown if it will feature returning characters from the franchise or all-new ones and no release date has been set.
The property was previously adapted for animation back in the late 1980s with the beloved “The Real Ghostbusters” series and the less well-known sequel series “Extreme Ghostbusters”.
Also on the way is “Motel Transylvania,” a TV series spin-off of the four “Hotel Transylvania” feature films. The project is officially in the works and is expected to debut on Netflix at some point in 2025.
The series is set after the events of the films and centers on the father/daughter duo of Dracula and Mavis. The characters head to the California desert where they open a brand new resort for both monsters and humans.
The announcement didn’t include any information about the show’s cast so it’s not clear if anyone from the movies will be returning.
