It has been so long, and there have been so many attempts. So maybe it’s hard to get excited about this, but could He-Man and the Masters Of The Universe finally be coming back to the big screen?

The long-long-long gestating project to bring a live-action Masters of the Universe movie to the big screen is apparently making a big leap forward now Amazon MGM Studios are in the mix.

They are working with Mattel Films and have announced plans for a theatrical release on June 5th 2026. That’s pretty soon, in big movie terms.

Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings, Bumblebee) is to direct from a script by Chris Butler.

According to reports, the story will start with a ten-year-old Prince Adam crashing on Earth and being separated from his Power Sword, severing his link to Eternia.

Twenty years later he is reunited with it, and finds himself pulled across space to defend his world from the evil forces of Skeletor.

To prevail, Prince Adam must uncover the mysteries of both his last, and Castle Grayskull, becoming He-Man, the most powerful man in the Universe.

Robbie Brenner, Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch are producing.

Netflix had the rights and spent a huge amount developing a potential project.

Now Amazon MGM Studios are in the driving seat, they have been setting an aggressive timetable.
