American-born British actor Chance Perdomo has died as the result of a motorcycle accident. He was just 27. The producers of Gen V, the spin-off from The Boys in which he starred, have released a statement:
“We can’t quite wrap our heads around this. For those of us who knew him and worked with him, Chance was always charming and smiling, an enthusiastic force of nature, an incredibly talented performer, and more than anything else, just a very kind, lovely person. Even writing about him in the past tense doesn’t make sense. We are so sorry for Chance’s family, and we are grieving the loss of our friend and colleague. Hug your loved ones tonight.”
As a result of this, Deadline has confirmed that production on the second season of Gen V has been delayed indefinitely. The report says that the cast and the producers were set to reconvene for the new season’s first table read on Monday afternoon. They learned of Perdomo’s death as they gathered.
Filming was due to start on Monday, April 8th in Toronto. Some reports indicate that he was in Upstate New York when the accident happened, and he was actually heading for Toronto for the table read. No other individuals were involved said to be involved in the crash.
Perdomo played Andre Anderson, a popular Godolkin University student with magnetic manipulation capabilities. He was second lead behind Jaz Sinclair.
The new season of Gen V will have to be overhauled, or the role recast, in order to continue, so delays could be significant.
