With Rooster Teeth closing its doors, Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has announced that the nineteenth and final season of the company’s comedy sci-fi series “Red vs. Blue” is being released in a single feature-length form.
The final run of the series will be released as the 87-minute film “Red vs. Blue: Restoration” which will be available to purchase on VOD on May 7th and rent on May 21st.
In the film, the universe’s greatest villain returns in a terrifying new form. Old adversaries, the Reds and Blues of Blood Gulch, will have to set aside their differences to save the galaxy one last time.
Series co-creator and RT co-founder Burnie Burns returned after a four-year hiatus to pen the script for the finale with Matt Hullum directing.
Warner Bros. Discovery opted to shut down the money-losing Rooster Teeth entertainment division earlier this month, putting employees and contributors out of work.
The studio aims to sell the catalog and intellectual property rights to “Red vs. Blue” and others like “RWBY” and “Gen:Lock” in the near future.
