The full trailer has been released for filmmaker Sam Taylor-Johnson’s long-gestating biopic “Back To Black” about British singer Amy Winehouse at Studiocanal and Focus Features.

“Industry” star Marisa Abela will both act and sing as Winehouse within the film that follows her rise to fame in London in the early 2000s.

Winehouse and Taylor-Johnson first met and became friends along Camden’s High Street scene at the time.

The film is said to paint a “vivid, vibrant picture of the Camden streets she called home” and capture “the struggles of global fame”.

It will also honor “Amy’s artistry, wit, and honesty, as well as trying to understand her demons.”

Winehouse passed away in 2011, but quickly became one of the most popular recording artists in recent history, selling over 30 million records worldwide and generating over 80 million streams per month.

Her “Back to Black” album became her signature work along with the immensely popular song “Rehab”. Taylor-Johnson directs from a script by Matt Greenhalgh (“Control”) and the full support of Universal Music Group, Sony Music Publishing, and The Amy Winehouse Estate.

Jack O’Connell co-stars in the film which will open in the UK on April 12th and in the U.S. on May 17th.
