Jason Reitman’s “SNL 1975” film, which offers a look at the real-life behind the scenes events of the opening night of “Saturday Night Live,” has cast most of its major roles.

New additions today include Dylan O’Brien (“The Maze Runner”) will play Dan Aykroyd, Cory Michael Smith (“Gotham”) will play Chevy Chase, Matt Wood (“Law & Order: SVU”) will play John Belushi, and Lamorne Morris (“Fargo”) will play Garrett Morris.

They join an ever expanding cast which includes Gabriel LaBelle as Lorne Michaels, Cooper Hoffman as Dick Ebersol, Ella Hunt as Gilda Radner, Kim Matula as Jane Curtin, and Emily Fairn as Laraine Newman.

Reitman and Gil Kenan penned the script which details what happened in the moments leading up to the first broadcast as a troupe of young comedians and writers changed television forever.

The script is based on an extensive series of interviews conducted with all the living cast members, writers and crew. Reitman, Kenan, Jason Blumenfeld, Erica Mills and Peter Rice are producing.

SNL itself is currently in the midst of its 49th season. Filming is expected to get underway shortly.
