Monday’s Movie Memes… And Moan

Stupid Monday. There we all were, enjoying the weekend, and Monday comes along and reminds us all of the reality of life. Yes, it’s back to work, avoiding Karen from HR, and looking forward to next Friday.

Never fear, though, dear Outposter, we have some hilarious movie memes to share with you this Monday. And, as always, we can have a bit of a moan.

My moan this Monday is a weird one. Over the end of last week, I ended up watching John Wick 1 and 2, and also xXx with Vin Diesel. John Wick is still a great action movie; the fighting, the story, the acting, it’s all done very well. John doesn’t go all Wick until about 28 minutes in. It sets the legend of Wick up and then unleashes him at just the right moment.

The second movie is, again, solid. John is pulled back into the world, with a marker he must honour, and the story continues all over that one dead dog. Putting on xXx at random, and it’s a bloody stupid movie, but damn, the action is fun; there’s a helicopter chasing a motorbike, a fight on a tank, and even cool skiing action. It was like a Bond movie dialled up to 11.

My Monday moan is that we don’t get to see movies like this much anymore. They are all CG these days, green screen, and just look fake. Sure, there are a lot of special effects in xXx, but at key moment, like when they drive a car into a ravine, they do it for real.

I looked for sequels to xXx, but most of the movies I found didn’t have Diesel in any of them. Although there was one bald guy who kept popping up in other xxx movies. Don’t act like you don’t know who I’m talking about!
