Depending on where you sit on either the political or the reality spectrum, January 6th was either the darkest day in American history since they cancelled Firefly, or a massively confected storm in a teacup.
As a result, it is likely to remain divisive, so the narrative around this movie is almost guaranteed to become somewhat… tasty.
Still, this is Last Movie Outpost, and in the words of Jean Claude van Damme in Death Warrant, we don’t punk. So we won’t shy away from covering it.
According to Deadline, Bradley Cooper is in talks to take the lead role in Sean Penn’s new directorial project over at Warner Bros.
It will tell the story of the life of a cop who will go on to be caught up in the events at the US Capitol on January 6th.
An unexpected story about friendship will follow his life journey that eventually leads to him becoming an American hero in the eyes of many during the 2021 incidents.
Clearly knowing how this might trigger some reactions, the studio is apparently keen that the project is not referred to as a “January 6th movie”. Erm… ooopsie!
It is about a real-life subject and they aren’t going to reveal his identity yet.
Sean Penn wrote the script and will direct and produce. John Ira Palmer and John Wildermuth co-produce.
It would line up to be Cooper’s next after the next Oceans 11 movie.
