“The Big Sick” director Michael Showalter’s romance-drama “The Idea of You,” starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine, is closing out the SXSW Film Festival tonight.
Ahead of that, it has been revealed that the film has broken a record for Amazon MGM Studios, specifically its trailer from the other week.
Deadline reports that the trailer has clocked 125 million global views across all social media platforms – making it “the most-watched trailer for any original streaming movie” according to analytics firm WaveMetrix.
The second and third-most watched trailers for a streaming movie are Netflix’s “Heart of Stone” and Amazon’s “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F”. Indeed, the film’s trailer numbers have exceeded the likes of “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” “Prey” and “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm”.
Based on some Harry Styles fan fiction, the film sees Hathaway as Solène, a 40-year-old single mom who begins an unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Galitzine) – lead singer of the world’s hottest boy band August Moon.
As they begin a whirlwind romance, it isn’t long before Hayes’ superstar status poses unavoidable challenges to their relationship.
“The Idea of You” hits Prime Video worldwide on May 2nd.
