Much of the talk surrounding the upcoming animated “X-Men ’97” revival series has been hijacked in the past 24 hours or so by the abrupt and still unexplained departure of series creator and head writer Beau De Mayo.
Now, Disney+ is trying to steer the conversation back towards the show itself which is only days away from launching. To do that they’ve released a new behind-the-scenes featurette for the show with the focus on executive producers Brad Winderbaum and Larry Houston.
The pair explain why the series isn’t a reboot of the original series so much as a “next day continuation” of the story. Plenty of new footage is abound in the clip which also sees returning voice cast members discussing what it’s like to be back.
The revival revisits the iconic era of the 1990s as The X-Men, a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future
“X-Men ’97” will feature voices of Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, JP Karliak as Morph, Lenore Zann as Rogue, George Buza as Beast, AJ LoCascio as Gambit, Holly Chou as Jubilee, Isaac Robinson-Smith as Bishop, Matthew Waterson as Magneto, and Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler.
