Apple TV+ has premiered the first trailer for its Colin Farrell-led drama series “Sugar” which kicks off on the streamer on April 5th.
The genre-bending contemporary take on a private detective story and is set in Los Angeles.
Farrell plays John Sugar, an American P.I. on the heels of the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Siegel, the beloved granddaughter of legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel.
As Sugar tries to determine what happened to Olivia, he will also unearth Siegel’s family secrets; some very recent, others long-buried. Kirby Howell Baptiste, Amy Ryan, James Cromwell, Anna Gunn, Dennis Boutsikaris, Nate Corddry and Sydney Chandler co-star.
“I Am Legend” and “The Cell” scribe Mark Protosevich created and executive produces the series whilst Audrey Chon and Simon Kinberg (“Invasion”) are executive producers alongside Farrell, Scott Greenberg and Chip Vucelich.
Oscar-nominated filmmaker Fernando Meirelles (“City of God,” “The Constant Gardner”) directed the entire series.
It marks Farrell’s latest foray into television following the second season of HBO’s “True Detective” and his starring role in HBO’s already filmed “The Batman” spin-off series “The Penguin”.
