Four more have joined the cast of HBO’s acclaimed post-apocalyptic drama “The Last of Us” for its second season which recently began production in Vancouver.
The quartet will play friends and colleagues of Kaitlyn Dever’s Abby in the series.
Danny Ramirez (“Top Gun: Maverick”) will play Manny, the group’s lothario and a loyal soldier who fears he’ll let his friends down.
Ariela Barer (“Runaways”) will play Mel, a pregnant young doctor committed to saving lives amid war and tribalism.
Tati Gabrielle (“Uncharted”) will play Nora, a military medic struggling to come to terms with her past.
Spencer Lord (“Heartland”) will play Owen, a gentle soul in a warrior’s body fighting an enemy he refuses to hate.
They join fellow newcomers to the new season like Dever, Young Manzino as Jesse, Isabela Merced as Dina and Catherine O’Hara in an undisclosed role.
All join returnees Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Pedro Pascal as Joel, Gabriel Luna as Tommy Miller, and Rutina Wesley as Maria.
The cast isn’t quite complete yet though as the key roles of brother and sister Lev and Yara are still unannounced.
Based on the awarded PlayStation game series, the first season aired early last year and quickly became one of the buzziest shows of the time with viewership growing virtually every week and drawing in HBO’s best viewership numbers in years. It ended up being one of 2023’s most critically acclaimed series.
The second season is expected to air in 2025.
