The official YouTube channel for Sonic the Hedgehog has offered a sneak peek at the upcoming animated short “Sonic the Hedgehog: Memories and Beyond!”.
Announced by SEGA at Anime Expo 2026, the reveal came during a Sonic animation retrospective panel featuring Takashi Iizuka, Tyson Hesse and Evan Stanley.
In the short, Dr. Eggman’s new evil scheme is to upgrade Metal Sonic into the ultimate fighting machine by stealing Sonic’s life-data and harnessing the power of the Chaos Emeralds.
Sonic and his friends realise that to defeat Metal Sonic, they must rely on the friendship they built through their adventures.
The ten-minute short celebrates Sonic’s 35th anniversary and is set to release this Fall.
The short comes ahead of the live-action “Sonic the Hedgehog 4” film which is currently in post-production ahead of a release in March next year. In addition, new live-action and animated “Sonic” shows are in development.
