By Marvel Studios’ “Echo” has reportedly come in on a production budget of just $40 million, a mere fraction of other shows on the Disney+ service.
Forbes revealed the news the other week with that report gaining traction more recently. They say the MA-rated Marvel Spotlight series – even with production issues that led to additional filming – has set the record for the cheapest live-action MCU series on the Disney+ service.
Marvel Studios has been pretty consistent with the budgets of its various series with seasons costing around $150-200 million for six to nine episodes each. Recent titles like “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” and “Secret Invasion” pushed above the $200 million mark each.
$40 million however is closer to the cost of the Marvel Netflix series with “Daredevil” clocking in at $42-56 million – but that was for thirteen episodes as opposed to “Echo” at a shorter five. It works out at around $8 million an episode which still makes it relatively expensive – a little bit more than the likes of “The Crown” or “Bridgerton” in their early seasons.
Marvel Studios is reportedly not developing a second season at this time, rather their efforts are currently going towards the new “Daredevil: Born Again” series along with other shows on the way such as the already shot “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries” and “Ironheart” series.
“Echo” is currently available in full on the Disney+ service.
