A bunch of films have set release dates in the last day or so.
Most immediate is Warner Bros. Pictures announcing that Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part One” is returning to cinemas for a one-week limited engagement starting next Friday, February 9th. The re-release will include a sneak peek of “Dune: Part Two” which is due for release on March 1st.
That’s not the only re-release on the way as A24 is bringing four fan-favorite movies back to AMC Theatres this month for one-night only engagements for its “A Lover’s Series” (details here). Ti West’s “Pearl” will be back on February 7th, David Lowery’s “A Ghost Story” is back on February 14th, Yorgos Lanthimos’ “The Lobster” returns on February 21st, and Robert Eggers’ “The Lighthouse” is on February 28th.
Onto new films, and AMC Theatres will be the exclusive cinematic home to award-winning documentary “Kiss the Future” about the siege of Sarajevo and how the music of U2 inspired the people. It will get a full theatrical run on February 23rd.
Saban Films has set a March 15th wide theatrical release for Michael Keaton’s “Knox Goes Away” – his second directorial feature which stars himself alongside Al Pacino, James Marsden and Marcia Gay Harden. Keaton plays a hit man attempting to make amends before dementia takes over.
Legion M has set a March 22nd theatrical release date for feature documentary “William Shatner: You Can Call Me Bill” which will screen across several hundred screens.
The dates comes as others are expected to be announced soon in the wake of several acquisition deals with Netflix landing the documentary “Will and Harper,” Focus Features landing Sundance audience award winner “Didi,” and Sony Pictures Classics taking Pedro Almodovar’s English-language feature debut “The Room Next Door” starring Julianne Moore, Tilda Swinton and John Turturro.
