Varma, Williams, Gillen Join “Young Sherlock”

A bunch of great UK actors have been added to the cast of Guy Ritchie’s “Young Sherlock” series which is currently in production.

“Game of Thrones” alums Indira Varma and Aidan Gillen along with Olivia Williams (“Dune: Prophecy”) and Sophie Skelton (“Outlander”) are all joining the new run, but character specifics are under wraps.

Hero Fiennes Tiffin as Sherlock Holmes, breakout Dónal Finn as James Moriarty, Max Irons as Mycroft Holmes, Natascha McElhone as Sherlock’s mother Cordelia, and Holly Cattle as sister Beatrice.

Zine Tseng as Xiao Wei/Princess Gulun Shou’an, Joseph Fiennes as Sherlock’s father Silas Holmes, and Numan Acar as Silas’s fixer Esad Kasgarli are all out – understandable as their stories essentially finished with the first season.

Through its first 28 days of release, the first season reached 45 million viewers and ranks among the top ten Prime Original Seasons all-time. It was a huge international hit, reaching number 1 in over 95 countries worldwide

Filming began in late May with some taking place on location in Palermo, Italy. Matthew Parkhill returns as showrunner.
