Apple TV+ has premiered the trailer for its new historical drama series “The New Look” starring Ben Mendelsohn as Christian Dior and Juliette Binoche as Coco Chanel.
Todd A. Kessler is behind the series which is inspired by true events and set against the World War II Nazi occupation of Paris.
This focuses on a moment in the 20th century when the French city led the world back to life through its fashion icon Christian Dior.
As Dior rises to prominence with his groundbreaking, iconic imprint of beauty and influence, Chanel’s reign as the world’s most famous fashion designer is put into jeopardy.
The saga follows the surprising stories of Dior’s contemporaries and rivals from Chanel to Pierre Balmain, Cristobal Balenciaga and more.
Also onboard are Maisie Williams as Catherine Dior, John Malkovich as Lucien Lelong, Emily Mortimer as Elsa Lombardi, Claes Bang as Spatz and Glenn Close as Carmel Snow.
Jack Antonoff produces and curates the sound track with the likes of Nick Cave, Florence Welch, Lana Del Rey and more doing covers of songs of the period.
Kessler writes, directs and executive produces with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark A. Baker. The first three episodes will premiere on February 14th followed by one episode dropping every Wednesday through April 3rd.
