The second season of “Marvel’s What If…?,” which launched on Friday, has landed the highest Rotten Tomatoes score of any Marvel Studios effort of this year.

With 12 reviews counted, the title has pulled in a 92% (7.9/10) on the site, above the previous high scorers of the second season of “Loki” at 82% (7.4/10) and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” at 82% (7.2/10).

It marks a reprieve for Marvel after three notable critical misfires this year with “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania” the worst at 46% (5.5/10), the mini-series “Secret Invasion” at 53% (6.1/10) and “The Marvels” at 61% (5.9/10).

Last year’s “Ms. Marvel” remains the highest scoring film on the critical aggregation site, pulling in a rather stunning 98% (8.25/10).

Marvel Studios only has three live-acction releases in 2024 – “Echo” in January, “Deadpool 3” in July and “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries” in late 2024. Three animated releases – “Eyes of Wakanda,” “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” and “X-Men ’97” are also expected to arrive in 2024.

The new series will see the introduction of an original character to the MCU – Kahhori, a Native-Mohawk hero. That episode will air on December 27th. “What If?” is unveiling a new episode every day through until December 30th.
