By Netflix has moved up the release of Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire” by a few hours. The streamer says the title will officially be released on the service on December 21st at 10pm US-ET/7pm US-PT.
The release shift comes ahead of the sci-fi epic’s limited theatrical release which commences next Friday in Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, and London. The second film, “Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver,” is due for release on the streamer in April.
It also follows in the wake of the filmmaker revealing last weekend that he is actively developing a third film in the franchise which he dubs the second instalment.
Netflix hasn’t officially greenlit the title, but Snyder tells THR he is actively writing the third movie even as the second movie is finishing up post-production. Snyder is also working on the animated show “Twilight of the Gods”.
He also recently gained the rights back to his screenplay for an unmade “300” sequel titled “Blood and Ashes” which explore the relationship between Alexander the Great and his right-hand man Hephaestion.
“Rebel Moon” stars Sofia Boutella as Kora, Ed Skrein as Admiral Atticus Noble, Charlie Hunnam as Kai, Michiel Huisman as Gunnar, Djimon Hounsou as General, Staz Nair as Tarak, Doona Bae as Nemesis, Ray Fisher as Darrian Bloodaxe, and newcomer E. Duffy as Milius, with Anthony Hopkins as the voice of a robot knight named Jimmy.
