Disney and Pixar’s “Toy Story 5” is set to pull in $71 million today, including $17.5 million in previews last night, at the U.S. box-office. That has led to estimates that the title could snag $160 million at the box-office by the end of the weekend.

The film had the best preview numbers for the franchise to date, the best preview numbers for 2026 so far, beating the $12.6 million previews of “Michael,” and the second best ever for Pixar behind only the $18.5 million of “Incredibles 2”.

With the Juneteenth holiday underway in the U.S. today, the Friday opening was always expected to be a big one, but it has also made predictions a little tricky as no-one is quite sure how front-loaded the film will be.

Going into the weekend, estimates have ranged from $150-180 million. If it holds, it’ll be the best opening since “A Minecraft Movie” last year which debuted to $162.7 million.

“Disclosure Day” and “Obsession” will be battling it out for second and third. Spielberg’s sci-fi film pulled in $4.6 million on Friday and is headed for a $16.5 million second weekend – a drop of 63%.

Curry Barker’s horror indie looks to drop just 31% in its sixth weekend with $13.1 million – the title now up to a total of $214.7 million. “Backrooms” and “Scary Movie” will round out the top five with $7.5 million and $7 million respectively.

Also opening this weekend are gay Aussie horror “Leviticus” which is headed for a $3.85 million three-day haul, and the Hugh Jackman-led “Death of Robin Hood” which is targeting a $2.75 million debut.
