Firstly, I’m with you, I’ve not heard of Robert the Doll until now. He was a cult British horror, which I’m going to have to track down and watch now. There’s something about creepy dolls; you can never trust them. I had one that told me to start fires once.

Turns out, Robert is based on a real story about an evil doll. There’s an entire website dedicated to him.

The real Robert the Doll

The following press release came from Nate Shepka, whom we’ve interviewed before.

The film is being produced by Shepka Productions and Flickering Myth, marking the latest collaboration between the two companies following the gothic horror feature The Baby in the Basket and the upcoming suspense thriller Death Among the Pines.

The new film reimagines the infamous killer doll, who made his screen debut in 2015’s Robert from the late UK genre filmmaker Andrew Jones, before returning for four further instalments in the original series.

Elle O’Hara (The Baby in the Basket, Wuthering Heights: House of the Damned) leads the cast alongside 10-year-old newcomer Iona McGill. Also starring are Annabelle Lanyon (Legend), Death Among the Pines actors Stephen Kerr and Nathan Shepka, and series veteran Lee Bane.

The film is being produced by Nathan Shepka of Shepka Productions and Gary Collinson of Flickering Myth. With executive producers Tony Taglienti and Sally Wood for 4Digital Media, Robert Graham of IMP Studios, and Emmy Award-winner Kira Reed (The Bay).

No news on when Robert will be released, but it could be fun, in that horribly creepy way.
