Let’s face it, Call Of Duty is basically the G.O.A.T. isn’t it? And Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was, as they say in Britain, the dogs’ bollocks. They are a strange people. It spawned several sequels, future-set editions, birthed the side-quest that was Black Ops, and is still going. Now it is time for the confusingly named Modern Warfare 4. Or, to give it the full name, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
Not to be confused with Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Come on, keep up! For fans of getting their asses kicked twelve ways until Sunday in multiplayer by a Chinese teenager making cat noises down his headset at you, these are exciting times.
Speaking of the Chinese, good news, everyone! Now you can scratch the itch of the no-score tie that was Korea by getting your gook shooting groove on again, as this version is set in the peninsula. The cinematic campaign will allow you to play as Private Park, a Korean soldier thrust into war for the first time.
In the game, the world becomes destabilised after a new North Korean leader launches a full-scale invasion of South Korea. Missions will also take place in New York, Paris, and Mumbai as the conflict spreads.
There will also be multiplayer options. This time around, Infinity Ward is using new technology in this space to allow:
“…authentic gameplay, guaranteeing precision aiming, improved weapon handling, realistic audio, and enhanced visibility”.
The launch package will include twelve all-new core 6-versus-6 maps. There will be maps tailored to gunfighting, and some for combined vehicle and infantry combat. The Kill Block and DMZ features also return.
This release is for new platforms only, so Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, high-spec PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. There will be no PS4 or Xbox One launch.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be released on Friday, October 23rd.
