Funny how certain scenes stick with you as a kid, like in Pinocchio, when that kid turned into a donkey. Well, prepare to get scared again, but this time in Pinocchio: Unstrung.
OK, so it might not cause childhood trauma, but then, if you showed it to a really little kid, it might scare them. If anyone does this, report back.
Pinocchio: Unstrung stars Richard Brake, Robert Englund, Karolina Knight, Peter DeSeouza-Feighoney, Kelly Rian Sanson, and Alexander Butler. Rhys Frake-Waterfield is the writer and director. He is known for making Pooh: Blood and Honey, which I’ve seen, and I’m going to say, enjoyed. It’s not groundbreaking, but fun in a ‘cheesy 80s slasher’ type way.
The story for this new Pinocchio is:
A dark coming-of-age reimagining of Pinocchio, this unsettling tale follows the iconic puppet’s disturbing journey toward becoming real.
The rest is from the press release. The latest addition to the Twisted Childhood Universe films (Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey), Pinocchio: Unstrung. Geppetto (Richard Brake) introduces his grandson, James, to a magical doll called Pinocchio. Unaware of his naïve nature, James introduces his new friend to the world, resulting in the doll going on a crusade to eliminate all things bad under the guidance of the sinister Cricket (Robert Englund).
From writer and director Rhys Frake-Waterfield (Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey) and producer Scott Chambers (Bambi: The Reckoning, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare), Pinocchio: Unstrung stars Richard Brake (Barbarian), Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street) and Cameron Bell in his feature debut.
Pinocchio: Unstrung is the latest addition to the Twisted Childhood Universe, which includes Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey and its sequel, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, and Bambi: The Reckoning.
Pinocchio: Unstrung will be in UK cinemas from the 24th of July.
