IFC Releasing has premiered the teaser trailer for the 1970s Detroit-set “Motor City” starring “Reacher” breakout Alan Ritchson.
The story follows a working-class romantic named John Miller who is framed by a ruthless gangster after falling for his girlfriend. After years in prison, he returns with only one mission: revenge.
Shailene Woodley, Ben Foster, Pablo Schreiber, Ben McKenzie and Lionel Boyce co-star in the film, which was penned by Chad St. John. John’s script made the Black List in 2009.
The project was previously set up in 2011 with Albert Hughes directing and Chris Evans starring. The likes of Gary Oldman, Dominic Cooper, Jake Gyllenhaal, Gerard Butler, Adrien Brody and Amber Heard were all attached to the project in the early 2010s, but things stalled.
A decade later, the film picked up movement again in the current version, which has been directed by Potsy Ponciroli (“Old Henry”). The movie screened at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, in the Venice Spotlight sidebar last year.
“Motor City” is set to finally hit cinemas on July 24th.
