Amazon Prime Video has announced that the series finale of “The Boys,” an episode titled “Blood and Bone,” is coming to cinemas.
Specifically, the episode is the eighth overall for the fifth season and will screen in 4DX theaters on May 19th – a day earlier than its debut on Prime on May 20th.
Locations will include Regal, AMC, B&B, Marcus, Cineplex, Cinema West, Cinepolis, and Regency.
Like with the “Stranger Things” finale, exhibitors can’t charge ticket prices and so instead are reserving seats by purchasing a concession voucher.
It continues a trend of streaming TV series screening episodes in cinemas this year, as both Netflix’s live-action “One Piece” and HBO Max’s “The Pitt” did so earlier this year with select episodes from their second seasons.
The series airs its sixth episode this Wednesday as the search for V-One has everyone setting their sights on Bombsight.
Previously, showrunner Eric Kripke has expressed how concerned he is about the ending, saying he understands the pressure – “you can count in one, maybe two hands, the truly great series finales… the graveyard is literally filled with terrible series finales.”
