Netflix has premiered the trailer for the documentary feature “Marty, Life is Short” which puts the focus on Canadian national treasure Martin Short.
Famed filmmaker Lawrence Kasdan (“Body Heat,” “The Big Chill”) directs the project, which blends, intimate, never-before-seen archive footage alongside exclusive interviews with some of the most established and beloved stars.
The feature explores one of the most influential comedians of a generation, the now 76-year-old “Only Murders in the Building” star has received two Primetime Emmy Awards, two Actor Awards, and a Tony Award.
Steve Martin, Eugene Levy, John Mulaney, Tom Hanks and the late Catherine O’Hara are also in the doco along with Short’s alter ego Jiminy Glick who says “well, they’re making a documentary on everyone.”
The film also delves into Short’s tragedy-fueled childhood – his older brother died when Martin was 12, and his parents died within two years of each other soon after. In 2010 his wife died age 58 and earlier this year his daughter Katherine died by suicide.
The film is produced by Sara Bernstein, Meredith Kaulfers, Christopher St. John, Justin Wilkes and Blair Foster and executive produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard.
“Marty, Life is Short” releases globally on Netflix on May 12th.
