The other day, the news came that the second season of Marvel Studios’ “Daredevil: Born Again” sadly hadn’t reversed the show’s course in terms of ratings.
The first season famously failed to reach the Nielsen Top 10 originals or overall numbers during its weekly run, but also during the 2-3 weeks afterwards. The first week of the new season on Nielsen showed no difference.
Another third-party tracker is Luminate, which has more current results with the second season also failing to make its Top 10 in its first five episodes.
Now, ComicBook.com has published more exclusive numbers from Luminate, specifically going into comparing the first five episodes of each season and how they fared through their first five weeks.
According to them, the second season has seen a decline of approximately 46% in total views and over 54% in total hours watched. The premiere of the first season clocked in with 1.9 million views, whereas the second season premiere was at 920,000 views.
As the season has progressed, things haven’t changed that much – the fifth episode of Season 2 pulled in 616,000 views compared to the 1.069 million of the first season’s fifth episode. Overall, the drop-off during the season has been slower than the first one, but it’s still falling nonetheless.
A lot of eyes will turn to “The Punisher” special now, and how well that will fare. A third season of “Daredevil: Born Again” is already a lock and is currently filming ahead of a premiere next year, but whether it will go beyond that… we’ll see.
The second season finale of “Daredevil: Born Again” airs on May 5th.
