Universal Pictures is set to swap two of its most high profile titles coming out in the relatively near future.
Originally, the Radio Silence-directed revival of “The Mummy” starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz was slated for a May 19th 2028 release.
That film is now arriving seven months earlier, the studio handing out a new October 15th 2027 release date.
More recently, the Joseph Kosinski-directed “Miami Vice ’85,” starring Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler as detectives Ricardo Tubbs and Sonny Crockett, respectively, was dated for August 6th 2027.
That has now been delayed and taken over the old ‘Mummy’ slot of May 19th 2028. The shift has reportedly happened as “Mummy” is said to be further forward in terms of production than ‘Miami’.
As a result of the shifts, an untitled Blumhouse movie on October 15th 2027 has been moved up a week to October 8th.
Meanwhile, the old ‘Miami’ date of August 6th 2027 is being reserved for a Universal untitled event movie.
