“The Wire” and “Truth Be Told” actor Andre Royo has officially joined the cast of the “Superman” sequel “Man of Tomorrow” in an undisclosed role.

Royo is best known for his work as Reginald ‘Bubbles’ Cousins in “The Wire” but has a long film and TV career, with his most recent film being “To Leslie”. He previously worked with James Gunn on 2010 superhero comedy “Super”.

DC Studios co-CEO and the film’s writer/director James Gunn shared the announcement in a post on Threads, saying: “After fifteen years it’s great to be working with Andre again!” Gunn shared in his post.

Speculation is already mounting that Royo may be playing J’onn J’onzz a.k.a. Martian Manhunter – the superpowered alien with shapeshifting abilities who remains an important character for DC even as he’s not really had much screen time in live-action form.

Gunn already teased the character’s appearance previously – most notably with a Chocos reference – a treat the character famously loves.

He joins David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, Aaron Pierre as Green Lantern John Stewart and Adria Arjona among others.

Filming has just gotten underway in Atlanta ahead of a planned July 9th 2027 release.
